The roof of Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian's family house was blown off in a storm that hit several areas in Kuching. The storm that caused the damage is part of a larger weather pattern affecting the region, with the number of hotspots in Kalimantan rising by 254 to 520, and those in Sumatra increasing by 12 to 176, according to the ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre. This has led to unhealthy air quality in several parts of the country, including Sarawak, with API readings exceeding 150 in some areas.
